Today my fiancée and I went to Donna's sourdough class. We figured we try our learning skills into the start of the new year. Boy, are we glad we did. Donna and her husband were fantastic hosts. You have a front seat in their kitchen (which was very cozy). Donna is super knowledgeable about sourdough and how to make a successful loaf. You get lots of tips and tricks which are very helpful as I have never made my own bread before. You even get to try the bread at the end of the training session with choices of delicious butter. We left with a small goodie bag that included a sourdough starter (which I may kindly name Angelina ) and a handy recipe to follow.

The journey of my first loaf:
About two weeks ago I tried to start my own starter, that was failing horribly. I started getting discouraged and was about to give up but someone recommended The Breadery, who then shared some of “Brad” her own starter with me. The wait for him to get to my house felt like ages, the day he arrived I let him settle, put him in a mason jar fed and let him set in my microwave. I checked on him four hours later he had already doubled and was ready to bake with. Donna walked me through every step to make this perfect loaf. Worried was an understatement, I was terrified I was going to mess it up. Needless to say, the loaf turned out perfect, and is absolutely delicious. - Lindsey J.
